Yo Art
"Mentoring inner-city youth, building self-esteem and job skills with a focus on academic and community service through art workshops, exhibitions, and public art projects."
The Yo Art Project was founded by Gene Furchgott in order to teach kids computer and writing skills which will better enable them to handle both their academic studies and life's challenges.
The Yo Art Project is a partnership between the City of Charleston Recreation Department , The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston, and the Palmetto Project, a 501(c) 3 non-profit which serves as its fiscal agent.
The emphasis is on one to one mentoring that helps the boys and girls to see and understand the unlimited opportunities that are available beyond the bounds of their local neighborhoods and establish goals that they can strive to achieve.
Mission
